Job summary

Onward Search is recruiting a Book Designer for a leading publishing company on a two-year contract. The role is an onsite schedule from Monday to Thursday, with Friday remote, and requires strong experience in trade publishing, layout, typography, and color use.

You will collaborate with art directors, editors, and production managers through all phases of book creation, prepare files for print, develop compelling cover and interior designs, and ensure schedules are met and projects delivered

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience in book design, especially in trade publishing.
Demonstrated talent in layout, typography, and color application.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective verbal and written communication skills suitable for presenting ideas and collaborating with team members.

Responsibilities

Transform initial concepts into visually engaging book layouts for various titles.
Collaborate with art directors, editors, and production managers throughout all phases of book creation.
Prepare and format files for printing, including making corrections and creating mechanicals.
Develop and present innovative cover and interior designs for review.
Ensure production schedules are maintained and projects are delivered on time.
