Responsibilities

• Execute design corrections for reprints and prepare jacket mechanicals with precision.
• Format files for production to ensure high-quality output.
• Create compelling layouts for original hardcover books.
• Convert hardcover novels to paperback while preserving design integrity.
• Present design concepts to art directors and editors and incorporate feedback.
• Collaborate with design and editorial teams across departments.
• Adhere strictly to production schedules and manage tasks efficiently.
• Provide essential support to the design staff as needed.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with other in-house departments to fulfill requests in a timely and effective manner.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of professional book design experience, preferably within trade book publishing.
• Demonstrated talent in innovative book design, including strong application of typography, layout, and color theory.
• Solid computer design skills, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate and present design ideas clearly.
• Familiarity with print production processes and requirements.

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree or equivalent design work experience.
