Job summary

Aquent is seeking a talented Graphic Designer to shape the visual narrative for children's and adult titles. You will play a central role in all phases of book production, from initial concepts to final jacket mechanicals, ensuring designs translate across hardcover and paperback formats.

With 3+ years in trade publishing design, you will craft layouts, manage multiple projects, and present ideas to art directors, editors, and production teams, while meeting strict timelines and maintaining

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional book design experience.
• Strong typography, layout, and color theory skills.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with high quality.
• Strong written and oral communication.
• Familiarity with print production processes.

Responsibilities

• Execute design corrections for reprints and jacket mechanicals.
• Format files for production with high-quality output.
• Create layouts and designs for original hardcover books.
• Convert hardcover novels to paperback while preserving design integrity.
• Present concepts to art directors and editors and incorporate feedback.
• Collaborate with design and editorial teams across departments.
• Adhere to production schedules and manage tasks.
• Provide support to design staff as needed.
