Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Traction Power Engineer for our Philadelphia team. The role focuses on hands‑on design and analysis of traction power systems for rail and LRT projects, working with experienced engineers to deliver real‑world solutions.

You will gain exposure to substation design, OCS, CAD drafting, and power system calculations, while developing skills in field inspections and documentation within a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
• EIT license preferred.
• Experience with traction power projects is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of power systems and circuit analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and analysis of traction power distribution systems including substation, OCS, and third rail.
• Develop electrical schematics and wiring layouts using CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Perform voltage drop, current flow, and power system calculations.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
• Conduct field inspections and site visits for data collection.
• Assist in testing and commissioning of traction power equipment.
• Produce as-built drawings and documentation.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and project stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with standards (NESC, IEEE) and maintain project records.
