Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Project Engineer, Traction Power and Medium Voltage in Sacramento, CA. This on-site role oversees traction power systems, MV distribution, and auxiliary power for a major transportation infrastructure project.

Travel up to 50% across the Central Valley is anticipated. You will review studies, protection schemes, and equipment specs while coordinating with OCS, signaling, SCADA, and civil teams.

Qualifications

• BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineer licensure preferred; additional years may be accepted in lieu of licensure.
• 10+ years of engineering experience on major transportation, utility, energy, or infrastructure programs.
• Experience supporting traction power, electrical infrastructure, and railway systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering coordination for traction power, MV, and auxiliary power systems through design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Coordinate interfaces between traction power, OCS, signaling, communications, SCADA, stations, and maintenance facilities.
• Review protection schemes, load flow analyses, short circuit studies, and grounding studies.
• Review contractor submittals, calculations, and test procedures.
• Support energization and commissioning activities and field investigations.
• Provide technical leadership for electrical safety and outage planning.
