Job summary

North American Rail Solutions is seeking a Trackman I to support railroad track construction, maintenance, and repair in outdoor environments. This entry-level role requires physical stamina, safety awareness, and the ability to work effectively in a crew.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining tracks, inspecting components, operating basic tools, and reporting issues to supervisors. Travel to job sites and weekend/overnight mobilization may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and visual instructions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; capable of working independently when needed.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs, climb, kneel, and work in varied outdoor conditions.
• Comfortable working at heights and in all weather extremes (heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet).
• Willingness to travel to various job sites, including weekend and overnight stays, and short-notice mobilization.
• Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and a willingness to learn new skills.
• Respond appropriately to safety signals and warnings; recognize and report potential hazards.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain railroad tracks, embankments, and related infrastructure.
• Perform track construction and repair tasks such as replacing rail and ties, adjusting switches, and building track sections.
• Operate manual tools and specialized hydraulic or pneumatic equipment.
• Conduct visual inspections of track components to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns.
• Record work performed and report issues or incidents to supervisors.
• Respond to after-hours and weekend callouts for emergency track repairs and derailment recovery.
• Assist in re-railing train cars and restoring track integrity.
• Follow safety regulations and use PPE properly.
