Job summary

North American Rail Solutions (NARS) is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Trackman I, an entry-level role supporting railroad track construction, maintenance, and repair. This position requires physical stamina, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in outdoor environments as part of a crew.

Key duties include installing and maintaining tracks, inspecting components, reporting issues, and responding to after-hours emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Experience in railroad, heavy construction, or maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, climb, kneel, and work outdoors.
• Willingness to travel to multiple job sites, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain railroad tracks and related infrastructure.
• Perform track construction and repair tasks such as replacing rail and ties.
• Operate basic tools and specialized equipment.
• Conduct visual inspections for wear, damage, or safety concerns.
• Record work and report issues to supervisors.
• Respond to after-hours callouts for emergencies.
• Collaborate with crew and maintain safe work environment.
