Job summary

Educational Service Center of Central Ohio is seeking an Assistant Coach to support school athletic programs and help student-athletes develop skills, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Must hold a valid Ohio certification/licensure and a Bachelor’s degree; Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit preferred. This role reports to the Head Coach / Athletic Director / Principal and involves collaboration with staff, parents, and students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid Ohio certification/licensure required.
• Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit required.
• Alternatives to listed qualifications may be acceptable per Board.

Responsibilities

• Coaching individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
• Working closely with the athletic director in the scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommending purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
• Maintaining necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and other paperwork.
• Overseeing the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishing performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport.
• Enforcing discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishing and overseeing penalties for breach of such standards by the individual students.
• Maintaining communication with parents & parent organizations.
