Job summary

Barnes Aerospace Lansing is seeking a machinist to operate NC machining setups for dies and fixtures. The role involves programming CNC machines (Hyper Mill preferred), determining operation sequencing, and collaborating with engineering on tool designs to ensure accurate fabrication.

Candidates should be able to stand for long periods, stay highly organized, and maintain strict attention to detail. Training may be required to master processes and safety standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate NC machining for dies and fixtures.
• Program CNC machines (Hyper Mill preferred).
• Determine sequencing of machining operations.

• Determine repair methods for dies and fixtures.
• Perform machining with close tolerances and varied setups.
• Construct and assemble tools, dies, gauges to spec.
• Run tool tests, diagnose issues, and adjust as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

***PLEASE NOTE: This position will require 6 to 12 months of training on day shift (7a-3p) prior to transferring to 3rd shift (11a-7a).

Core Responsibilities:

• NC Machining operation for manufacturing of dies and fixtures
• Programming of CNC machines for above (Hyper Mill preferred)
• Determines sequencing of machining operations for dies and fixtures
• Works with engineering on tool designs
• Determines repair methods for dies and fixtures
• Performs a wide variety of machining operations requiring difficult setups and methods to maintain very close tolerances
• Constructs, repairs, fits and assembles tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges to ensure correct fits and proper operations
• Makes necessary tool tryouts and diagnoses and corrects problems
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Ability to perform the physical and functional requirements of the job, including standing for the majority of the work shift.
• Must possess a high levels of organization, detail orientation, self-awareness and prioritization skills.
