Job summary

Barnes Aerospace is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to support NC machining operations for dies and fixtures. The role requires programming CNC machines, with Hyper Mill preference, and close collaboration with engineering to ensure accurate tool designs and tight tolerances.

The candidate will perform a wide range of machining operations, assemble and inspect tools and fixtures, and conduct successful tool trials to diagnose and fix issues.

Responsibilities

• NC Machining operation for dies and fixtures.
• Program CNC machines for dies and fixtures (Hyper Mill preferred).
• Determine sequencing of machining operations for dies and fixtures.
• Collaborate with engineering on tool designs.
• Determine repair methods for dies and fixtures.
• Perform diverse machining with tight tolerances.
• Construct, repair and assemble tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges.
• Conduct tool tryouts and diagnose problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• PLEASE NOTE: This position will require 6 to 12 months of training on day shift (7a-3p) prior to transferring to 3rd shift (11a-7a).

Core Responsibilities

• NC Machining operation for manufacturing of dies and fixtures
• Programming of CNC machines for above (Hyper Mill preferred)
• Determines sequencing of machining operations for dies and fixtures
• Works with engineering on tool designs
• Determines repair methods for dies and fixtures
• Performs a wide variety of machining operations requiring difficult setups and methods to maintain very close tolerances
• Constructs, repairs, fits and assembles tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges to ensure correct fits and proper operations
• Makes necessary tool tryouts and diagnoses and corrects problems
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Ability to perform the physical and functional requirements of the job, including standing for the majority of the work shift.
• Must possess a high levels of organization, detail orientation, self-awareness and prioritization skills.
