Job summary

BARNES in Michigan is seeking a CNC machinist to operate NC machines for dies and fixtures, with 6 to 12 months of day shift training (7a-3p) before transitioning to the 3rd shift (11a-7p).

You will collaborate with engineering on tool designs, determine machining sequences, and perform precision setups to maintain tight tolerances. A High School diploma or GED is required, and candidates should be organized, detail-oriented and capable of standing most of the shift.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform the physical and functional requirements of the job, including standing for the majority of the work shift.
• Must possess a high levels of organization, detail orientation, self-awareness and prioritization skills.
• Programming of CNC machines; Hyper Mill experience preferred.

• Programming of CNC machines for above (Hyper Mill preferred)
• Determines sequencing of machining operations for dies and fixtures
• Works with engineering on tool designs
• Determines repair methods for dies and fixtures
• Performs a wide variety of machining operations requiring difficult setups and methods to maintain very close tolerances
• Constructs, repairs, fits and assembles tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges to ensure correct fits and proper operations
• Makes necessary tool tryouts and diagnoses and corrects problems
• Performs other duties as assigned
