Job summary

Accelera in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking a skilled Tooling Technician to maintain and optimize high-tonnage stamping dies for automotive components.

You will diagnose, repair, and modify transfer and line dies, operate precision tool room equipment, and collaborate with press teams to improve setup efficiency while applying root-cause analysis and Lean initiatives.

A strong background in metal stamping, blueprints, GD&T, and the ability to lift up to 80 pounds is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in metal stamping, die repair, or tool & die building.
• Strong ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and part prints.
• Solid mechanical troubleshooting and data-driven tooling adjustments.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds in a fast-paced shop.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain transfer and line dies to peak performance.
• Operate precision tool room machinery to fabricate and modify die components.
• Collaborate with press operators to optimize setups and throughput.
• Apply root cause analysis to prevent downtime.
• Ensure tooling meets print specifications and quality requirements.
• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives (5S/Kaizen) to improve efficiency.
• Handle wastewater compliance duties as required.
