Job summary

Norwood Medical is seeking a detail-oriented Tooling/Tool Crib Attendant to support CNC machining operations in Dayton, OH. You will assemble tooling, calibrate equipment, inspect tools for wear, and coordinate tool refurbishment while maintaining accurate inventory and supporting production changeovers.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble tooling according to setup and production requirements; preset, measure, and verify tool assemblies.
  • Calibrate equipment to ensure accuracy in manufacturing processes.
  • Inspect tooling for wear, damage, and usability; remove defective tools from service.
  • Coordinate tool regrinding, repair, and refurbishment activities.
  • Monitor tool usage and maintain inventory of tooling to prevent shortages.
  • Receive, inspect, and stock incoming tooling shipments and manage tool requests from production.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Assemble tooling according to setup and production requirements; preset, measure, and verify tool assemblies (length, diameters) using presetting equipment.
  • Calibrate equipment to ensure accuracy in the manufacturing process.
  • Inspect tooling for wear, damage, and usability; remove worn or damaged tools from service.
  • Coordinate tool regrinding, repair, and refurbishment activities.
  • Monitor tool usage and track inventory levels; maintain inventory of cutting tools, tool holders, inserts, and related tooling to prevent shortages.
  • Partner with vendors to obtain quotes and manage lead times/delivery schedules; place purchase requisitions for tooling inserts, consumables, and supplies, and expedite order as needed.
  • Receive, inspect, and stock incoming tooling shipments.
  • Issue and receive tooling to and from CNC machining cells and respond promptly to tooling requests from production personnel.
  • Support machine changeovers and new product launches.
  • Assist in monitoring tool usage to help identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Follow all company safety policies and PPE requirements and maintain a clean, organized, and safe tool crib environment.
  • Ensure tooling meets quality and production specifications.
Skills
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and dexterity.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively across the organization.
  • Excellent time management of projects/tasks.
  • Strong understanding of tool life cycle and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or move about the facility and lift up to 35 pounds during a shift.
  • Work as team player and communicate work related issues as needed.

  • Experience: Demonstrated longevity of at least eight consecutive months in previous employment. Top Candidates will have: working experience in manufacturing environment.

  • Adaptability: Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures; Ability to work overtime when required; Eagerness to learn processes and procedures in multiple areas.
