Job summary

Saab seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift in West Lafayette, IN, to support tooling and manufacturing technology in aircraft assembly. You will maintain tooling inventory, drive improvements, and liaise between tooling engineers and production teams.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing, with tooling design/testing experience, GD&T knowledge, and proficiency in Excel and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years of comparable work experience is required.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection / application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design and tooling performance testing experience.
• Familiarity with GD&T and aerospace quality regulations is a plus.
• Proficient in Excel reporting and CAD software skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and report results.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions and assist in installation of tooling projects.
• Contribute to Saab's people-first culture and assist with tooling safety.
• Assist assemblers with tool use.
• Ensure tooling compliance to aerospace standards.
• Work other tasks as assigned.
