Job summary

Hadrian is seeking a Tooling Engineer to design fixtures and tooling for aerospace-grade welding. You will take tools from concept to production, validating with FEA and coordinating fabrication with internal shops and external vendors.

You will work with welding engineers and welders to minimize distortion and improve fit-up, and you will design tooling for robotic welding cells to advance automation within a Los Angeles facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Welding Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 4+ years designing tooling in a manufacturing environment, with weld fixtures or tooling experience.
• Experience taking tools from CAD into production and supporting prove-out and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design weld fixtures and tooling from concept through production and release.
• Validate tooling designs with FEA and hand calculations for load, stiffness, and thermal effects.
• Manage tool fabrication with internal shops and outside vendors.
• Work with welding engineers and welders to control distortion and optimize fit-up.
• Design tooling for robotic welding cells and positioners to support automation.
