Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Tooling Engineer for the Central Tool Processing group in Detroit, MI. You will apply tooling knowledge to improve quality and eliminate waste across CNC and conventional machining processes on powertrain components.

This role requires 5–7 years of experience, BS/BA in engineering, and strong problem-solving skills. Onsite, with competitive benefits and a starting salary range of $108,000–$139,000 USD.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of Lean/Continuous improvement tools and problem solving.
• Extensive tooling background including drills, reamers, taps and mills.
• Mechanical machining aptitude to diagnose CNC machining equipment.
• Experienced with GD&T, CMM reports and process sheets.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key contributor to delivering high-quality powertrain components and manufacturing excellence.
• Support collaboration, efficiency, and productivity within machine shop and CTP operations.
• Develop expertise in tooling engineering, CNC and conventional machining processes, and manufacturing equipment operations.
• Design, develop, and implement tooling concepts and manufacturing solutions to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and problem-solving methods.
• Partner with production teams, union leaders, engineering and management to enhance performance.
