Job summary

SMC Ltd. is a global premium supplier to the medical market with a focus on speed, technology and performance. We seek Tooling Engineer I/II/III to support sustaining and new molding projects, manage mold procurement, and coordinate external tool suppliers in Santa Rosa, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 0-3 years of engineering experience; internships, co-ops, or relevant manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong desire to learn injection molding, mold design, tooling procurement, and project management.
• Basic understanding of CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage mold procurement process from quoting through design, construction, and mold debug.
• Manage current tool suppliers, and develop appropriate new suppliers as required.
• Create internal tool cost estimates.
• Schedule and track all tool deliveries; report mold progress to Project Engineers and ensure on-time delivery.
• Demonstrate regular attendance and reliability.
• Conduct internal mold design reviews to ensure appropriate design and compliance with mold building standards.
• Implement tooling changes to comply with customer quality specifications.
• Support the sales function by participating in customer meetings and product design reviews.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following all company safety policies and procedures.
