Job summary

Amcor is offering a full-time, paid summer internship at the Erie Tool Shop to support design, development, and improvement of tooling used in precision mold and manufacturing operations. You will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced production environment while working with a multidisciplinary team.

The role focuses on assisting with CAD-based mold design, documentation, and collaboration with toolmakers and engineers to ensure cost-effective, manufacturable tooling solutions.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Basic knowledge of CAD software; ability to create and modify 3D models and technical drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and detailing of injection molds, mold components, and tooling assemblies using CAD software.
• Create and update detailed part drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Support engineering changes, revisions, and updates to existing production tooling.
• Collaborate with toolmakers, CNC machinists, manufacturing engineers, and production personnel to ensure tooling designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
• Participate in mold design reviews and manufacturability discussions.
• Assist with troubleshooting mold performance issues, including wear, flashing, venting, cooling, and dimensional concerns.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control within internal systems.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to tooling and production concerns.
• Lead or support continuous improvement projects focused on mold performance, quality, cycle-time reduction, cost savings, or tooling standardization.
• Assist with new mold development projects from concept through build, tryout, and production launch.
