Job summary

Amcor is offering a full-time, paid summer internship at the Erie Tool Shop to support design, development, and improvement of precision mold tooling. You will gain hands-on experience in a high‑ paced production environment, collaborating with toolmakers and engineers while contributing to tooling drawings, BOMs, and mold design reviews.

The program runs May 17, 2027 through August 13, 2027, with potential for additional training and discussion of future opportunities within Amcor’s tooling

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field.
• Basic CAD knowledge; create and modify 3D models and technical drawings.
• Strong mechanical fundamentals.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and detailing of injection molds, mold components, and tooling assemblies using CAD software.
• Create and update detailed part drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Support engineering changes, revisions, and updates to existing production tooling.
• Collaborate with toolmakers, CNC machinists, manufacturing engineers, and production personnel to ensure tooling designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
• Participate in mold design reviews and manufacturability discussions.
• Assist with troubleshooting mold performance issues, including wear, flashing, venting, cooling, and dimensional concerns.
