Sonoco Products Company in Columbus, OH is seeking a Tool Room Supervisor to lead machinists, schedule work, ensure quality, safety, and continuous improvement in tooling and metrology. The role requires hands-on machining, AutoCAD and SolidWorks expertise, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Hands-on machining experience and ability to operate lathes, mills and grinders.
• Advanced knowledge in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Strong verbal and written communication and problem solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervising 6 - 8 direct reports in the Machinist classification.
• Complies with established Sonoco safety practices and maintains a safe work environment.
• Supports SQF guidelines and follows SOPs and best practices.
• Monitors finished products, analyzes trends and deviations, and recommends improvements.
• Performs quality inspections on tooling and informs leadership of significant deviations.
• Produces daily inventory and tooling usage activity reports.
• Maintains measurement gauges and calibration of equipment; manages requisitions.
• Schedules and assigns machine shop work via dispatch system.
• Interacts with vendors and retrieves information as needed.
• Evaluates machinist skills and plans training needs for staff.
