Job summary

Tenneco Inc. in Ohio is seeking a skilled machinist to design, machine, and build fixtures and tooling from blueprints, performing CNC/CAM setup, operation, maintenance and calibration.

You will provide direction to trainees and other machinists, initiate continuous improvements, and ensure compliance with quality, 5S/Lean and safety standards in a demanding shop environment.

A high school diploma with specialized machining training and strong mechanical inclination are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with specialized training in machining principles.
• Be capable of reading blueprints to perform required tasks.
• A strong mechanical inclination with prior experience with equipment set-up/operation/maintenance/calibration.
• Proficient with computers, CAM, and spread sheet programs.
• Good organizational skills with sound written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in machining, blueprint reading, robotics, welding to build or repair tools and fixtures.
• Set up and operate CNC and CAM equipment.
• Provide leadership to trainees and other machinists as needed.
• Initiate and contribute to continuous improvements in the department’s methods, capabilities, and productivity.
• Follow all company policies and procedures such as the quality management system, 5S/Lean, and Environmental Health and Safety.
