Position Summary

The Tool PM Supervisor directs and coordinates, through subordinate personnel, activities concerning production of company product(s), maximizing productive use and capabilities of production tooling, fixtures and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage day‑to‑day activities of all Mold Repair / PM employees, including distributing assignments, coordinating work activity between shifts, maintaining appropriate off‑shift staffing requirements, maintaining Tool Room schedule, updating schedule spreadsheet, processing personnel payroll, attendance and vacations, as required.
  • Track and monitor Tool Room performance for cost, quality and delivery with an emphasis on maximizing departmental efficiency, throughput and tooling efficiency.
  • Participate as a key member of engineering, quality and management teams as required.
  • Promote open communication between Tool Room, Operations, Quality, Maintenance and Engineering personnel.
  • Maintain, assess and improve the condition of Tooling.
  • Drive a proactive, effective, efficient and participative tool PM implementation.
  • Evaluate repair and maintenance requirements to recommend and justify new equipment requirements and/or other capital improvements.
  • Evaluate performance of Tool Room personnel.
  • Facilitate timely repairs and refurbishments including use of corporate quoting and Pixley/OTT tool making operations.
  • Monitor Tool Room adherence to ISO, CGMP, FDA, and ITAR procedures.
  • Adhere to the Quality Policy and Core Values of the organization.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, plastic injection molding required.
  • Must have prior mold‑making experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have 5 to 10 years of supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Must be able to read machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action.
  • Machining capability including, but not limited to lathe, CNC, EDM, drill press, grinding, sawing, and polishing tight‑tolerance steel.
  • Computer skills including ERP and MS Office proficiency.
Education and Job Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • 2‑ or 4‑year degree or Journeyman’s certification.
  • Successful completion of trade school and/or apprenticeship program.
  • Available to receive training in new equipment and machinery as they are procured; keep education and background up to current industry standards through willingness to attend seminars, read periodicals and seek advanced education.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Subject to intermittent and changing noise levels from operating machines.
  • Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
  • Breathing fumes, dust and mist.
  • Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
  • Stand, walk, push, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
  • Visual acuity, dexterity and accuracy as needed to operate testing equipment or gauges.
  • Exert up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently.
  • Exert 20 to 100 pounds of force minimally.
  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing plant floor requiring the use of personal protective equipment (e.g., ear plugs, safety glasses, etc.) and following good manufacturing practices.
  • Normal manufacturing and clean‑room environment.
