Job summary

Medbio, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Tooling Technician I to perform preventive maintenance on molds and related equipment during 2nd and 3rd shifts. You will stage and destage molds, assistEngineering and Production staff, and coordinate with outside vendors for repair work.

The role supports tracking of repair work orders in IQMS and collaborates with Process Engineers. Requires a high school diploma and at least 3 years in molding, with physical ability to lift as needed.

The Tooling Technician I performs a variety of preventive maintenance tasks on molds and related equipment. Staging and de-staging of molds. Assists Engineering staff with repair and replacement tasks and works closely with outside vendors and supply sources for repair and maintenance purposes. Develops ERP system (IQMS) for tracking of repair work orders along with scheduled maintenance tasks. The Tooling Technician I will also assist Process Engineers and Production staff where necessary

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Preventive maintenance of molds
• Proper documentation of damage and requisite repair requirements
• Follow proper procedure for maintenance and storage of mold components
• Ensures that all established policies, rules, and procedures are followed
• Back up Set-Up Technicians when needed
• Perform other tasks/duties as assigned

Organizational Relationships:

This position reports directly to the Tool Room Supervisor but has a close working relationship with Engineering and Process Engineering.

Experience and/or Educational Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• At least 3 years’ experience in molding environment
• Staging and de-staging of molds
• Understanding of molding, mold-setting processes, and practices as well as plastic materials and handling.
• Must be able to effectively use equipment (i.e., overhead crane, hi-lo, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform the physical demands of the position and essential functions including standing, climbing onto or around presses and equipment. Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds safely, Employee is required to work 40 hours a week with occasional weekend/overtime work when needed.
