Job summary

GTR Enterprises in Edinburgh, IN is seeking an experienced Tool Maker to perform preventative maintenance and repair molds and fixtures, support tool room equipment operations, and use 2D/3D mold files. CNC programming and operation may be required.

Responsibilities include repairing molds, inspecting for damage, reading blueprints and CAD files, operating Bridgeport mill, manual lathe, and surface grinder, and using CAD/CAM software to convert designs into blueprints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of an apprentice program or field experience recommended.
• Mold building and machining experience required.
• CNC operating and programming experience preferred.
• Familiarity with common operating systems and software.
• Technical writing may be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Repair molds as needed and build fixtures as required.
• Inspect completed molds for defects affecting functionality.
• Read and understand blueprints and CAD files.

Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: GTR Enterprises - Edinburgh, IN 46124, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: $28.00 - $32.00 Hourly, Travel Percentage: Negligible, Job Shift: 1st Shift

Tool Maker is responsible for preventative maintenance and repairing a variety of molds and fixtures. Additional tasks involve providing support for tool room equipment operations and use of 2D/3D mold files on the computer. CNC responsibilities include: Programming/ Operating CNC machine as required

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Repair molds as needed, repair or build jigs and fixtures as required.
• Inspects completed molds for signs of imperfection or damage that may affect the molds functionality.
• Read and understand blueprints and CAD files.
• Operate a Bridgeport mill, manual lathe, and surface grinder.
• Uses computer-aided design (CAD/CAM) software to create designs and/or turn designs into blueprints as required.
• Keep all shop machinery clean, maintained and in proper working order.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Successful completion of an apprentice program or experience in the field recommended
• Mold building and machining experience required.
• CNC operating and programming experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE

• Advanced troubleshooting skills
• Understanding of safety and equipment procedures
• Overhead hoist operation and safety regulations required for mold repair and PM’s
• Standard Mold Preventive maintenance and repairs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Occasional Weekends

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Exposed to work in manufacturing /machining area settings with exposure to oil, coolant, and metal residues
• Intermittent exposure to sounds or noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
• Requires long periods of standing.
• At times, work is completed in a manufacturing facility requiring appropriate protective equipment at all times

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Prolonged periods of walking, reaching, crouching, twisting, lifting, pushing, standing and sitting at a desk working on a computer
• Lift and carry a maximum of 45 pounds
• Wear protective eyewear and/or other protective gear correctly
