Amsted Automotive is seeking a skilled Tool Maker to join our employee-owned team in Michigan. You will set up and operate presses, study blueprints, verify tolerances, and assemble dies and tooling.

Qualifications

• Must have experience as a Tool Maker.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.

• Basic computer skills and familiarity with current technology.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate press for building new dies and loading/unloading dies for repair for cold form and finishing.
• Study blueprints, sketches, models or specifications to plan operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators.
• Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes and tolerances of assemblies.
• Set up and operate machines/tools to shape parts to prescribed dimensions.
• Fit and assemble parts to make/repair dies, jigs, gauges and tools.
• Inspect finished dies for smoothness and defects.
• Lift, position and secure machined parts on surfaces using hoists and vises.
• Set up and operate drill presses.
