Job summary

Amsted Automotive Group, TransForm Products, is seeking a Tooling Engineer to provide engineering support for new projects, plant operations, and cost reduction initiatives. You will design tooling fixtures and dies, develop blueprints, and collaborate with teams to ensure high-quality production tooling.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years in a heavy industrial setting, with CAD/AutoCAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in a heavy industrial setting.
• Knowledge about selection of tool steels and PVD coating selections for different applications

Responsibilities

• Design tooling fixtures, gauges and mechanisms for manufacturing purposes.
• Develop blueprints for tooling designs per customer or project specifications.
• Utilize CAD or AutoCAD to analyze existing tooling designs and improve on them.
• Contact outside sources for cost estimates on tooling, fixtures, gauges, machine components, tool detail and machine work for production or quoting purposes.
• Prepare detail drawings of tools, dies or machine parts; assist in die design for maximum productivity and part quality.
• Share designs with colleagues and implement relevant feedback in new designs.
• Act as liaison between Engineering and other departments for troubleshooting and cost reduction; coordinate interface between customer design requirements and die shops.
• Design and test experimental tooling with operations team.
• Assist in other areas of die design, manufacturing and die start-up.
• Participate in and, as appropriate, lead continuous improvement activities at the facility.
• Other duties as assigned
