Amsted Automotive Belleville, MI is seeking a skilled Tool Maker to set up and operate presses, prepare dies, and repair tooling. The role requires reading blueprints, measuring parts, and ensuring tolerances.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Tool Maker is required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate press for building new dies and loading/unloading dies for repair.
• Study blueprints, sketches, models or specifications to plan operations for tooling and assemblies.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators.
• Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes and tolerances of assemblies from specifications.
• Set up and operate conventional or machined tools to shape parts as prescribed.
• Fit and assemble parts to make/repair dies and tools using machine and hand tools.
• Inspect finished dies for smoothness and conformity to specs.
• Lift and position machined parts on surfaces and set up drill presses.
