Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking an experienced Tool & Die machinist to join our Greensboro, NC area shop supporting dies and tooling for production. You will inspect dies, design tooling from drawings, and operate CNC and conventional machines to meet strict tolerances.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in tool & die, proficiency with MasterCam/AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and masonry-like measurement skills. Evening/night shifts and weekend work may be required per production needs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of precision measuring tools, layout tools, hand & bench tools, metallurgy and heat treatment, advanced mathematics (geometry, trigonometry).
• Experience with engine lathes, mill machines, jig bore, surface grinders, and press operation.
• Blueprint reading and familiarity with MasterCam, AutoCAD and Solid Works are essential.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Internet Explorer.

Responsibilities

• Inspect Dies: Check for wear, cracks, or damage after production runs.
• Design die from engineering drawings, sketches or verbal direction
• Set up and operate conventional or CNC equipment to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
• Operation of all tool room equipment to make and repair dies.
• Assist with prototypes from engineering department.
• Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat treatment properties
• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
• Assist the maintenance department when needed
• Weld, measure, heat treat, etc.
