Job summary

Dover Food Retail in Virginia is seeking a Tool & Die Technician to inspect and design dies, set up CNC and conventional machines, and support tooling fabrication on the shop floor. The role requires substantial experience in tool & die processes and working with various dies and presses.

Applicants should have a Machinist certificate or equivalent and 5+ years in a tool & die machine shop. Onsite work with potential night/weekend shifts; competitive hourly pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

Knowledge of precision measuring tools, layout tools, hand & bench tools, metallurgy and heat treatment, advanced mathematics (Geometry/Trigonometry).
Experience with engine lathes, milling machines, jig bore, surface grinders, and press operation.
Blueprint reading and familiarity with MasterCam, AutoCAD and SolidWorks are essential.
Basic skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Internet Explorer.

Responsibilities

Inspect dies for wear, cracks, or damage after production.
Design dies from engineering drawings, sketches or verbal direction.
Set up and operate CNC and conventional equipment to cut, bore, grind, or shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
Operate tool room equipment to make and repair dies.
Assist with prototypes from engineering department.
Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on hardness and heat treatment properties.
Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
Weld, measure, heat treat, etc., as needed.
