Job summary

Dover is seeking a skilled Tool & Die machinist to inspect and design dies, set up CNC and conventional equipment, and support prototypes from the engineering team. The role requires reading blueprints and selecting appropriate metals, with emphasis on precision and durability.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in tool and die, knowledge of MasterCam/AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and ability to work flexibly to meet deadlines in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school (Machinist certificate) or equivalent.
• HS Diploma/GED.
• 5+ years of experience in Tool & Die machine shop; progressive dies a must.

Responsibilities

• Inspect Dies: Check for wear, cracks, or damage after production runs.
• Design die from engineering drawings, sketches or verbal direction
• Set up and operate conventional or CNC equipment to cut, bore, grind, or shape parts to prescribed dimensions
• Operation of all tool room equipment to make and repair dies
• Assist with prototypes from engineering department
• Select metals based on properties (hardness, heat treatment)
• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specs to plan sequences of operations
• Assist maintenance as needed
• Weld, measure, heat treat, etc.
