Job summary

Air Distribution Limited in Tarboro, NC is seeking a Skilled Machinist to build, repair, and maintain dies, molds, and other tooling. You will read engineering drawings, set up manual machines, and diagnose tooling problems to keep production flowing.

The position requires high school education, strong machining knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. First shift with overtime and union-driven schedule; on-site work only.

Qualifications

• High school education preferred and extensive knowledge of machining.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Experience with GD&T preferred.
• Willingness to work first shift and overtime as required.
• Basic computer skills (Windows).

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, maintain, and modify dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and other production tooling according to drawings, specifications, and production requirements.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on dies and tooling to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Diagnose die and tooling problems and determine appropriate repairs or adjustments.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, fit, and reassemble dies and tooling.
• Set up and operate manual machine tools such as mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and related equipment.
• Operate CNC and/or EDM equipment when required by the facility.
• Perform precision grinding, machining, fitting, polishing, and bench work.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, GD&T specifications, and technical documentation.
• Use precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, gauge blocks, and other inspection tools.
• Verify completed work meets dimensional and quality specifications.
• Troubleshoot tooling problems during production and respond to equipment or die-related downtime.
• Perform die change, tryout, adjustment, and troubleshooting activities as required.
• Identify recurring tooling problems and recommend permanent corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement activities designed to improve tool life, product quality, safety, cycle time, and equipment reliability.
