Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Tool & Die Technician for the Lafayette, IN plant on the 3rd shift (11:30 pm–7:30 am). You will set up, operate, and adjust machine tools to produce dies, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts, ensuring precision and quality on the shop floor.

The role requires 6+ years of machining experience or an accredited Toolmaker apprenticeship, with CAD/CAM capabilities and blueprint reading. Benefits and relocation options are available to eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• 6+ years' Job Shop or Tool Room experience.
• Associate Degree in a technical field or completion of Toolmaker Apprenticeship.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM and blueprint interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust machine tools for dies, jigs and fixtures.
• Determine methods and procedures, including setups and tooling selection.
• Read gauges, perform basic welding and heat treatment as needed.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety on the shop floor.
• Work with CNC equipment and read/write programs; use Office tools as needed.
• Willing to work overtime to meet production demands.
