Caterpillar is hiring a Tool & Die Technician for the Lafayette, IN area on the 3rd shift. You will set up and operate machine tools to produce dies, jigs, fixtures and tooling, troubleshoot issues, and read blueprints.

The role requires 6+ years’ shop experience or an accredited technical program plus CAD/CAM skills. Relocation assistance up to $15,000 is available for eligible candidates, with a 40-hour week, overtime potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental

Qualifications

• 6+ years' Job Shop or Tool Room experience or an Associate Degree with four years of experience, or completion of a Toolmaker Apprenticeship.
• Knowledge to plan and execute complex tooling jobs and determine heat treat requirements.
• CAD/CAM software proficiency and ability to read complex schematics & blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust machine tools for machining operations and repair parts.
• Determine methods and procedures for operations, including improvising setups and tooling selection.
• Use gauges; perform basic welding and heat treatment; read and edit CNC programs.
• Maintain safe, organized, and productive shop environment and support overtime as needed.
