Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Tool & Die Technician for the Lafayette, IN facility on the 3rd shift. You will set up, operate, and adjust machine tools, troubleshoot jobs, and ensure tolerance-critical parts meet specifications on CNC and manual equipment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years' Job Shop or Tool Room experience and/or an Associate Degree with four years of experience.
• Completion of the Tooling Services Intermediate Math assessment.
• Ability to read, interpret, and hold tight tolerances on grinding, lathe, milling/drilling operations.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operation, and adjustments on one or more machine tools to perform machining operations.
• Determine methods and procedures for operations, including setup improvisations.
• Use gauges and perform basic welding and heat treatment.
• Repair fixtures, tooling, and machines on the shop floor.
• Read, write, and edit CNC programs.
