Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Machine Excellence Diagnostic Specialist on 2nd shift in Lafayette, IN. You will diagnose machine tools using API 6D lasers, Leica trackers, and Renishaw systems, performing proactive inspections and supporting maintenance to improve quality.

The role requires reading tool prints, interpreting CMM data, and traveling as needed with potential overtime; relocation support is available.

Qualifications

• Applicant must have completed a skilled trades apprenticeship or 3+ years in lasering/alignment of machine tools.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Willing to work substantial overtime to support production goals.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic inspections on machine tools with metrology equipment.
• Assist maintenance to troubleshoot electrical or mechanical issues.
• Improve geometrical accuracy and tolerances per B5.54 methods.
• Read machine tool prints, interpret CMM reports, and manage tight tolerances.
