Qualifications

• Must be able to follow instructions.
• Able to operate Drill Press, Mill, Grinder, and Lathe with set-up assistance.
• Able to read calipers, micrometers, and indicators.
• Willingness to train new Tool and Die Makers.
• Able to read and understand shop prints.
• Able to complete tasks with minimal assistance.
• Able to make jigs and fixtures.
• Must be able to understand uses and best application for each tool steel.
• Able to complete heat treat process.
• Grind tooling to tight tolerances.
• Understand and use shop math.
• Sharpen and maintain tooling for dies.
• Able to construct tooling for dies.
• Complete set-up of Mill, Lathe, and Grinder independently.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to machine, assemble and repair metal parts, dies and molds.
• Selects proper tool steel and performs heat treat and grinding.
• Grinds and fits carbide die components with tight tolerances.
• Inspects finished material to meet specifications.
• Interprets blueprints and drawings to build dies or molds.
• Maintains clean, safe work area and performs related duties.
