Job summary

Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems (KUAS), a division of Kratos Defense, is seeking a Tool Design Engineer to design and develop tooling that enables the manufacture of high‑performance jet‑powered unmanned systems. This role emphasizes CAD modeling (Catia/3DX), GD&T, and cost‑reduction initiatives within a disciplined defense environment.

You will work across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to ensure tooling meets schedule, cost, and technical requirements, while mentoring junior

Qualifications

• Design tooling to support manufacturing processes.
• CAD proficiency to model tools; Catia/3DX preferred.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance analyses for tooling.
• Lean manufacturing and DFx to cut costs.
• Maintain tool design configuration control.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tools to facilitate, execute and optimize the manufacturing process.
• Lead tool design with minimal oversight and document tooling models.
• Ensure GD&T and tolerance analyses inform tooling drawings.
• Contribute to manufacturing work instructions and cost-reduction efforts.
• Interface with engineering, manufacturing, quality, vendors and customers.
