Job summary

Arts in Action Community Charter School is seeking an Elementary Assistant Teacher for the Transitional Kindergarten program. You will support teachers and students in individual or small group settings, serve as a substitute when needed, and assist with various classroom and program tasks.

The role emphasizes ethics, confidentiality, relationship-building, and proactive behavior management, with opportunities in after-school supervision and meal program support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with intent to obtain a 30-day substitute credential from California CTC upon hire.
• Ability to establish productive relationships with staff, students and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Strong communication skills and conflict resolution ability.
• Growth mindset and love of learning.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high degree of ethics and professionalism.
• Execute whole group and small group instructional activities with students.
• Assist in the social development of students.
• Implement behavior management strategies designed by teachers and administration.
• Administer redirection and consequences per the school’s positive behavior support plan.
• Willingness to substitute teach as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Deliver intervention lessons to targeted students.
• Assist in administering school-wide benchmarks and state assessments.
• Supervise students to follow safety guidelines and minimize accidents.
• Build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Follow guidance of teachers and administrators.
• Assist with after-school program duties and supervision.
• Support meal program supervision when applicable.
• Assist with student toileting needs if required.
