Challenge Charter School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support teachers across K-5 classes, assisting with lesson planning, attendance, and small-group instruction. The role emphasizes Tier 2/3 support, guided reading, and collaboration with the lead teacher to foster student growth and engagement.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree and NYS Level 1 Teacher Assistant Certification, with urban classroom experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• NYS Level 1 Teacher Assistant Certification required.
• Classroom experience in an urban school setting preferred.
• Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by preparing major subject area lesson plans.
• Attend faculty meetings and parent conferences.
• Provide guided reading instruction and monitor Tier 3 scholars.
• Track scholar attendance and class schedules.
• Support CST meetings and communicate with families.
• Lead classes in the absence of the lead teacher.
