Job summary

Title Solutions Group in Carthage, Illinois is seeking a detail-oriented Title Insurance Underwriter to join our office-based team. In this role you will support real estate transactions by underwriting and servicing files in alignment with underwriting guidelines.

The ideal candidate has at least three years in title insurance or real estate, plus strong analytical ability, accuracy under pressure, and solid communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least three years of title insurance/underwriting or related experience.
• Working knowledge of title insurance principles and real estate terminology.
• Ability to review and interpret recorded documents.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries about file status, rate quotes, title defects, and exceptions.
• Review title searches and opinions to determine status and underwriting requirements.
• Underwrite and prepare commitments, policies, and endorsements per agency goals.
• Ensure file documentation is complete, accurate, and properly routed.
• Enter and maintain critical title information in the policy system.
• Support workflow tasks like ordering searches, scheduling closings, and tracking updates.
• Assist with reporting, file maintenance, receivables, and general office tasks.
• Coordinate document recording and follow up with clerks or attorneys when applicable.

What We’re Looking For:

• Working knowledge of title insurance principles, legal instruments, and real estate terminology.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret recorded documents.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
• Proficiency in typing with speed and accuracy.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
