Job Description
Overall Purpose:
To provide tutorial support to students to increase academic performance in the areas of reading, math, science, or social studies. To increase identified students proficiency in meeting the Georgia Standards as demonstrated on appropriate Milestone Assessment.
Essential Functions:
- Tutors an individual student or small group of students in the content area of English, Reading, Math, Science, or Social Studies.
- Works with the students in a respectable manner.
- Completes required Title I Program documentation e.g. service logs, time sheets, and student achievement data collection at the program site as needed.
- Follows Neglected and Delinquent Facility policies and procedures and demonstrates ethical behaviors.
- Plans for and guides the learning process to help students achieve program objectives.
- Maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Selects and uses effective researched base instructional methods and learning materials.
- Establishes a cooperative relationship with all assigned tutors and students.
- Maintains open lines of communication with parents, guardians, coordinator and site supervisor.
- Participates in required Title I tutor training and professional learning.
- Works collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the tutoring program.
- Works with the designated supervisor to plan, access materials, supplies and appropriate equipment to address the needs of the student (s) serves.
- Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
- Performs other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position as related to Title I.
Area of Experience Needed:
- Knowledgeable of Georgia Standards of Excellence for assigned grade level and content areas.
- Familiar with instructional best practice.
- Successful teaching history.
- Ability to communicate proficiently in written, verbal, and technological modalities.
Requirements:
- Must meet highly qualified requirements of a certified teacher.
- Successful classroom teacher performance and/or tutoring experience with challenged or at-risk students.
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License
Physical Requirements:
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $40 to $40 Per Hour
