Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or 48 college credit hours required.
  • WorkKeys and 96 hours of in-service training may fulfill requirements.
  • Completion of the NC DOL Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Collaborate with EITs to create tailored strategies and use technology as appropriate.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and on field trips.
  • Enforce school policies and rules governing students.
  • Discuss duties with teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Prepare lesson materials and arrange classroom displays.
