Job summary

Irving ISD seeks an experienced Title I Elementary Academic Specialist to coach teachers, guide instruction, and lead data-driven improvement across the campus. The role focuses on planning with teams, aligning to TEKS, and supporting literacy and intervention strategies.

The position requires a Texas teaching certificate, a strong background in structured literacy, and leadership in professional development to raise student achievement. Grant-funded but essential to instructional excellence.

Qualifications

• Master's degree preferred in education or related field.
• Valid Texas Teacher Certification required.
• Valid Texas Bilingual/ESL or Spanish Teacher Certification preferred.
• Completion of Texas Ready Academy.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct weekly planning meetings with grade level/department teams to guide content focus and instruction.
• Serve as instructional coach and mentor; develop model lessons, co-teach, and observe teachers with timely feedback.
• Ensure teachers understand TEKS and design lessons aligned with district curriculum and literacy practices.
• Visit classrooms regularly to observe instruction and provide feedback on strengths and growth areas.
• Mentor new teachers and teachers new to campus/district.
• Provide coaching to implement district curriculum, select materials, and integrate technology.
• Prepare reports using data systems to target TEKS coverage and differentiation.
• Attend district PD and Academic Specialist meetings for collaboration and growth.
• Collaborate to identify students needing Tier I interventions and plan tutorials.
• Participate in data analysis to identify campus strengths/weaknesses and adjust focus.
• Work with district coordinators to audit and revise curriculum based on student achievement.
