Job Description

Job Title: Title I Academic Tutor

Reports to: Campus Principal

Dept./School: Assigned Campus Title I

Wage Status: Per Hour

Pay Grade: Temporary/Part-Time

Days: TBD

Primary Purpose:

Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, and work with individual students or small groups. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher or administrator. This position is Title I funded and meets the intent and purpose of Title I, Part A of the ESSA grant program. The respective employee will be assigned 100% to this federal grant program's single cost objective.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework (preferred)
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work well with students
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:

Some experience working with students

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, and work with individual students or small groups.
  • Collect and maintain data regarding student work and progress

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Equipment Used:

Personal or laptop computer, printer, copier, fax machine, calculator, telephone, electronic mobile devices, and other instructional technology

Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
