Qualifikationen

• High School Graduation or GED (necessary for NDT certification).
• Three to six months experience as a Cold Etch Operator B or prior chemical etching operations experience.
• Completion of PCC basic chemistry training for Cold Etch Operations or other basic chemistry courses.
• Ability to read, write, interpret and follow instructions and Tech Cards.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing 30–50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work in difficult conditions including exposure to noise, dust, chemicals and temperature extremes.

Aufgaben

• To chemically clean casting prior to inspection and reworking using alkaline baths, cold etch baths, and/or hot water washes.
• To prepare, operate and maintain tanks used for chemical cleaning and to clean castings before routing to shipping.
• To apply fluorescent penetrant and prepare castings for inspection.
• Test chemical baths, determine concentration, and adjust as needed.
• Operate penetrant line, apply penetrant liquid, and dry castings as required.
• Maintain logs of bath chemistry, etch rates, and part lots.
• Perform maintenance and housekeeping to keep equipment and area in good condition.
