Job summary

Gift of Life Michigan is seeking a Tissue Procurement Specialist I for the Ann Arbor area. The role recovers musculoskeletal and dermis tissue from deceased donors statewide and collects placental tissue from birth mothers while maintaining sterile recovery suites and overseeing donor logistics.

You will review medical records, prepare sites, and draw blood for testing. Proficiency in sterile technique and strong organizational skills are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in biological sciences, EMT or paramedic certification plus six months’ allied health experience or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare tech systems.
  • Written and verbal English fluency; strong organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Aseptically excise musculoskeletal and dermis tissues.
  • Acquire and aseptically package placental tissue (may include travel).
  • Aseptically package recovered tissue for shipping per protocols.
  • Aseptically gown and glove for procedures.
  • Review donor medical records for accuracy and donor eligibility.
  • Prepare storage, prep solutions, donor, and recovery site.
  • Perform physical donor assessment and collect blood samples for testing.
  • Receipt and release of donors at Ann Arbor facility per Gift of Life policy.
  • Maintain compliance with Tissue Bank standards and FDA Good Tissue Practices.
  • Maintain stock and cleanliness of recovery suites and prep room.
