Job summary

Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network is seeking a Tissue Recovery Technician to recover tissues for transplant from deceased donors, a role that requires meticulous aseptic technique and compassion for donors and families.

The technician will use surgical instruments, assist with recovery logistics, and may advance to a Tissue Recovery Coordinator within a year. 12- to 24-hour shifts and on-call responsibilities are included.

Qualifications

Minimum education and training to perform essential duties.
EMT-P/EMT-B/CST/ORT or HS diploma with tissue banking experience.
Bachelor’s in Biology or related field with anatomy lab experience.
Other candidates may be considered based on relevant experience.
Experience maintaining aseptic technique and using surgical instruments.
Ability to transition to Tissue Recovery Coordinator within 1 year after training.

Responsibilities

Advance Gift of Hope's mission, vision and core values; adhere to policies while performing duties.
Use surgical instruments to recover authorized donor tissue.
Participate in tissue recovery processes: load equipment, decontaminate tools, transport donors.
Set up and prep tissue recovery supplies; complete labeling and packaging.
Provide post-mortem care and ensure proper donor identification and authorization.
Assist with tissue sample collection and shipping as needed.
Act as a preceptor to new employees; participate in meetings and trainings.
