Job summary

The University of Iowa Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to perform tissue bank operations and routine specimen transport across UIHC locations. This 100% time, first shift role involves moving materials and performing clerical tasks as needed.

Candidates should have two years of related lab experience or CLA certification, and be able to move up to 25 lbs and traverse long distances within the hospital.

Qualifications

• Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, OR
• Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, OR
• Any combination of related post high school education and laboratory experience which totals two years.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily operations in the tissue bank.
• Performs routine pick-up and delivery of surgical tissues, laboratory specimens, and other related items to surgical areas, clinical areas, and laboratories throughout the UIHC main campus.
• Performs required clerical/computer tasks.
• Performs cleaning of tissue transport containers and work area.
• Receives and unpacks supplies received from outside vendors.
