Job summary

The University of Iowa Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to perform difficult technical procedures under general supervision. Responsibilities include processing specimens, clerical duties, routine lab maintenance, and supply distribution. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m.

to 6:30 p.m. on campus at UI Health Care. The position requires a high school diploma with two years of related lab experience or CLA certification, with desirable MLA(ASCP) eligibility

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of related laboratory experience, or
• Certified laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or
• Any combination of related post high school education and experience totaling two years.

Responsibilities

• Accession, handle, and triage specimens for Surgical Pathology.
• Operate laboratory equipment.
• Demonstrate effective communication with team and patients.
• Follow department and laboratory policies.
• Prepare reagents and chemicals.
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned.
