To enable students in the assigned area to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Be dependable and of high moral character

Ability to work well with children

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Experience:

Some experience working with children

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
  • Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he is assigned
  • Supervises the lessons outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher’s Guide as prepared by the absent teacher.
  • Consults with the building principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the regular teacher’s plans.

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move text books and classroom equipment

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
